Are you looking to transform your landscape with a water feature? Considering the years of enjoyment a water feature will bring you, your family and friends?
"Waterloo Region's #1 Water Feature Installer"
Whether you and your family are looking to reduce stress, to increase quality time or manage your own wildlife safe haven, we've got a solution for you.
Once you've had the opportunity to experience a beautiful and properly functioning water feature, it's said that everyone falls in love with nature again. Why not bring nature home, right in your backyard, with a stunning disappearing waterfall that will take care of itself while you sit next to it after a long day at work with a glass of wine.
Pondless® (Disappearing) Waterfalls recirculate water through a waterfall or stream without a pond. They're an excellent option for families with children or small dogs. You can add the sight and sound of running water into your landscape without safety concerns for the little ones. Pondless® Waterfalls can be tucked into any corner of the landscape and are an ideal option for adding curb appeal near the front door.
Cost can be a significant factor when considering the type of pond you want to build. In most cases, the price of a Pondless® Waterfall will be less than a pond, because there is less labour involved, as well as less rock and materials. The cost to run a Disappearing Waterfall is less than a pond because you’re not dealing with an established ecosystem.
Would you buy a home without all its parts? Without a kitchen or bathroom? No bedroom or living room? Just like building a house, a waterfall needs all it's proper components to make it work properly.
The spillway allows the water to flow at the starting point of the waterfall. Hidden out of view, all you will see is water gushing over the rocks. Key to enjoyment, the expectation for how much sound is paramount. Building a 3-foot waterfall outside your bedroom window will be a quick way of never sleeping again.
2. Rocks & Gravel
Just like in rivers, rocks and gravel are very visible, and we want to maintain that natural look. Rocks and gravel also cover the pond liner from harmful UV rays that could otherwise break down the liner leading to leaks. In the bottom pit of the waterfall, you get to decide if you want water to pool or if you want it to disappear quickly.
3. Waterfall Vault
The waterfall vault houses the pump. Don't worry; the vault is also hidden out of sight minus a small removable cap to check water levels.
Pump size is important for your waterfall. It dictates whether you imitate a small creek with water glistening over rocks or whether you have your own version of the Niagara Falls.
5.Aquablox or Basin
Aquablox (or Basin) is what allows us to house many litres of water to ensure the pump never runs dry. If you run a dry pump, it'll break very quickly.
6. Pond Liner & Underlayment
Important piece to the puzzle, is the hidden layers of liner and geotextile keeping the water contained within the feature. Improperly lay these pieces down and you'll be filling up your feature often.
Without piping you wouldn't have water flow to the top of the waterfall. This has watered pumped in at the vault and forced to the waterfall spillway.
Benefits of a Disappearing Waterfall
Reduced Stress & Improved Health
As we are designed to be outside, a disappearing waterfall will pull you outdoors into the sunlight, and fresh air and in turn will reduce stress improving your health. Don't be surprised if your neighbours want to join you, the sights and sounds of waterfalls and natural gardening will surely attract attention.
Increased Quality Time with Friends & Family
As your family & friends become exposed to your new water feature, everyone will cherish spending time lounging waterfall-side. Time will merely vanish leaving everyone always wanting to spend more time outside.
As each day passes, the homes of our wildlife as being destroyed for new developments, vehicle traffic disrupting their habits and what's left is becoming polluted. Within days or weeks, wildlife will be attracted to your waterfall for a much-needed sip of clean water or quick bath. If the environment pulls your heartstrings, building a waterfall is a great way to give back.
