Kitchener Changes Fine for Snow Covered Sidewalks

Share On:

Kitchener councilors met Monday, December 7, 2015, to debate the by-law. The by-law still remains in place however a change of personnel has been made for the service provided to properties that are not in compliance. Instead of city crews clearing the sidewalk, a private contractor has been hired. This has resulted in the minimum fine dropping from $345 to $280.

You can find the details here: http://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/kitchener-approves-lower-fine-for-leaving-sidewalks-snow-covered-1.2690625.

If you haven't heard before you should know that the City of Kitchener has a fine in place for any property owner who doesn't clear their city sidewalk within 24 hours after a snowfall. Details of the by-law can be found here: https://www.kitchener.ca/en/livinginkitchener/SidewalkClearing.asp.
